As Christians in the second half of life, we trust that God has saved the best for last. We encourage seniors to continue growing spiritually and to develop a strong sense of community with other seniors, not only by participating in our regular Senior Adult activities, but also by serving at Wayside in a great variety of other church ministries and activities.
- Monthly Luncheon - We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, September through May for lunch and a special program in Fellowship Hall. Click here for information on this month's program.
- Game Nights -
Every Thursday at 5:00 pm, we meet in 115 Ivywood for a pot luck supper and games.
- Nursing Home Services - Wayside seniors serve by visiting and leading worship services in eight nursing homes in San Antonio, where we minister to hundreds of other senior adults.
- Holiday Outreach - We organize the donation of turkeys and “trimmings” for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for Wayside families experiencing need.
- Seminars - We sponsor several seminars each year on health, financial, legal and spiritual issues that affect senior adults.
- Dinners - We sponsor special evenings with dinner and entertainment.
- Day Trips - We organize group day trips to destinations of interest in our area.
Our senior adult members are active in almost all of the ministries at Wayside Chapel, which includes Bible studies, mentoring, greeting and ushering. They also serve the Wayside community through many Agape Ministries such as Meals on Wheels, Manna Meals and the Funeral Ministry.
We appreciate the wisdom and experience of our seniors. They are a vital part of Wayside’s vision to be a community, Rooted in the Word, Reaching out to the Word, Reproducing Christ followers
